It can be tricky getting dressed in September. After Labor Day, we’re super excited to enter fall. But in most places in the world, it’s still super hot. This is getting more true every year, thanks to global warming. So I wanted to bring you transitional outfits for fall that you can wear now while it’s still warm out… and easily transform later when temperatures cool off. Keep checking back for new outfit ideas all month and head over to my Instagram Reels to see the outfits in video form.
hot pink blazer
Now Cami: sold out but similar here and here I Jeans: AGolde I Bag: YSL I Necklace: Electric Picks I Sandals: Aqua
Later Turtleneck: sold out but similar here and here I Pants: Bailey 44 I Bag: sold out but similar here and here I Pumps: Badgley Mischka
I saved my fave way to wear pink for the last part of my Barbiecore series: a colorful blazer. A bright blazer will never go out of style and you can wear it so many different ways. Here’s how I’m wearing one now and how I plan to use it to add a pop of color to an all black outfit when it cools down:
Now I made jeans extra feminine by playing around with all different shades of pink.
Later A pink blazer makes it simple to add a pop of color to black fall outfits. Double the pop with a pair of pink pumps!
pink midi dress
Now Earrings: J. Crew I Bag: sold out but similar here and here and here I Shoes: Tony Bianco
Later Sweater: sold out but similar here and here I Belt: M.M. LaFleur I Earrings: J. Crew I Bag: 8 Other Reasons I Pumps: M. Gemi
A pink midi dress is a classy way to do the Barbiecore trend… if this dress was good enough for Carrie Bradshaw it’s good enough for Barbie! With a couple of layers you can even wear it as a skirt!
Now This asymmetrical dress is quite the statement in itself. But for a little Barbie inspired fun, I added clear and sparkly shoes and bag.
Later I transformed the dress into a skirt by adding a fuzzy sweater and thick waist belt. I could definitely picture this one as a holiday party look.
Hot pink sweater
Now Skirt: ASTR (similar) I Bag: Strathberry I Sandals: Ann Taylor
Later Leggings: White House Black Market I Necklace: Dundas x Revolve I Booties: Steve Madden (similar here and here) I Bag: YSL
A pink sweater is a cozy way to do the Barbiecore trend… plus it’s so versatile! You can wear a bright sweater with jeans, skirts, leggings, you name it! Here are a couple of ideas to get started:
Now For a fun colorblock look, I tucked the sweater into a yellow. Then I let the two bold hues remain the main focus with tan accessories.
Later You can never go wrong with an oversized sweater and (faux) leather leggings. To dress it up, I added a statement necklace. So glad they’re back in style now!
Hot pink accessories
Now Camisole: sold out but similar here, here and here I Jeans: AGolde I Necklace: Electric Picks
Later Blazer: Bailey 44 (similar) I Pants: Bailey 44 (similar) I Camisole: sold out but similar here, here and here
The easiest way to do the #Barbiecore trend is with accessories. Adding a pop of pink with a new handbag or pair of shoes (or both!) instantly updates any outfit for the season.
Now I gave a simple black cami and jeans Barbie vibes with a pink crossbody bag and hot pink clear pumps. This look works year-round. You can just add a jacket or cardigan when it gets cooler.
Later I love the look of an all black outfit with a pop of color. So I took the same accessories and cami and swapped the jeans for a black suit.
pink mini dress
Now Bag: Olga Berg I Earrings: J. Crew I Platforms: Madden Girl
Later Bag: YSL I Hat: sold out but similar here and here I Sweater: sold out but similar here and here I Boots: Goodnight Macaroon
It’s all about Barbiecore right now. One way to wear hot pink various from warmer weather styling to fall outfit ideas is with a pink tent dress. It’s flirty, fun and perfect for hiding your midsection (in my case styling the bump).
Now Platforms are one of the biggest fall show trends. So I used a pair of Mary Jane platforms to make the dress on trend for season, while still allowing me to stay cool in the heat.
Later I love when all black outfits have just a pop of color. By layering an oversize sweater on top of the dress, just a touch of pink shows. Then I added some of my fave classic fall accessories: a fedora and over the knee boots.
White shirt dress
Now Belt: old but similar here I Bag: Strathberry I Necklace: Electric Picks I Sandals: Ann Taylor
Later Turtleneck: L’Academie I Bag: Strathberry I Boots: Goodnight Macaroon
A white shirt dress is a fashion staple you can wear year after a year. I love the darted waist of this one because it shows off your shape. Here’s how I’m wearing it in warmer weather… and how I plan on styling the dress when it cools down for fall.
Now I wanted to keep things simple and classic. So I showed off my waist with a metallic belt and added tan accessories.
Later Vests are a huge fall trend. I simply layered a sleeveless turtleneck tunic over the dress to give it the look of a cozy vest. And then I added some over the knee boots, which are really popular right now as well.
Mini wrap dress
Now Bag: 8 Other Reasons I Necklace: Electric Picks I Pumps: Raye
Later Sweater: H&M I Jeans: H&M I Bag: YSL I Necklace: Electric Picks I Booties: Talbots (similar)
Wrap dresses are flattering on almost every body type… even when you’re dressing the bump! Not only are they flattering but they’re super versatile. Just look how you can open them up and wear them as a shirt:
Now This dress comes in a few colors and prints but I’m loving everything green at the moment. So I added a green bag in a different shade as well. Then I used clear pumps to really lengthen my legs.
Later By tying the dress in the back, I was able to turn it into a shirt, or a lightweight shacket. It’s perfect to wear over a sweater tank and jeans as it gets slightly cooler.
Printed Maxi dress
Now Bag: Gigi New York I Sandals: Sam Edelman I Earrings: Gorjana (similar) I Lariat Necklace: BaubleBar (similar)
Later Turtleneck: M.M.LaFleur I Hat: Brixton (similar) I Booties: Steve Madden (similar) I Chain Necklaces: Electric Picks I Belt: vintage (similar) I Bag: Gigi New York
People often think of maxi dresses for summer. But you can wear a maxi dress year-round. I love the abstract tribal print of this black and white dress. Here’s how I’m wearing it now, and how I plan to wear it later when it cools down:
Now I let the print remain the focus with minimal accessories and my fave comfy sandals.
Later To still show off the print, I layered a thin turtleneck underneath. The western trend is big for fall. So I added a rancher hat and chain belt for cowgirl inspired accessorizing.
